Borrower Information

Our library stock is available to staff working in primary care across Nottingham City, including those staff working in commissioning, public health, provider services and GP Practices. In addition, health and related professionals addressing the public health agenda from other key sectors, such as social care, education, the voluntary sector and youth and community services are entitled to register as members of the Resource Centre.

Under separate SLAs, staff working for NHS East Midlands and Deanery are also eligible to borrow resources, as are Student Nurses and Student Midwives from the University of Nottingham.

Q.  How do I join?

To join you need to fill in the online membership form. We will also need to see some proof of identity, e.g. a work or student identity badge, upon your first visit to the Resource Centre. You will be given an individual (non-transferable) membership card which you need to present each time you use the service.

Q. How many items can I borrow?

Primary Care and partner staff are entitled to borrow a total of 6 resource items (books, DVDs, models, poster packs, games, teaching packs) at one time. Students are entitled to borrow up to 4 books.

Q. How long can I keep my items for?

Books are issued for a period of 3 weeks, and DVDs for 2 weeks. Items can be renewed by phoning the Resource Centre on 0115 883 4205, by email or renewed via the online catalogue (membership number and password required). If a particular item you have on loan has been reserved or booked by another client, you will not be allowed to renew it.

Q. Can I reserve or book an item in advance?

Yes - reservations (for books, DVDs, CDs etc.) can be made over the phone, via email, the online catalogue or in person at the Resource Centre. We also take advance bookings for audio-visual aids, models, DVDs and equipment. If you want to make a booking, please complete the online form. To avoid disappointment, items should be booked or reserved as far in advance as possible. Items can be collected from the Resource Centre or, provided they are not fragile, can be delivered to a local PCT Health Centre for collection.
